MARIE STOPES PNG DONATES VEHICLE TO MOROBE PHA

Marie Stopes Papua New Guinea (MSPNG) has donated a 10-seater land cruiser to the Morobe Provincial Health Authority to support its public health efforts in sexual and reproductive health and family planning in the province.

The donation was made possible through the PNG – Australia Transition to Health (PATH) program.

MSPNG Country Director, Ms. Angelyn Famudi, officially presented the keys of the vehicle to Dr. Kipas Binga, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Morobe Provincial Health Authority (MPHA), at a handover ceremony held this week at Angau Memorial Hospital in Lae (pictured).

Also present at the event were Family Health Services Coordinator, Sharon Jamea- PATH DFAT, Sr. Patricia Mitiel, and Family Health Manager, Mr. Kelly Mesere, alongside staff from both MSPNG and MoPHA.

Ms. Famudi said in a statement that: “Marie Stopes Papua New Guinea (MSPNG) has reaffirmed its longstanding partnership with the Morobe Provincial Health Authority (MoPHA) by donating of a vehicle.”

She added that the MSPNG has been collaborating with MoPHA for many years to deliver critical health services aimed at improving the reproductive health and well-being of the communities in Morobe Province.

This partnership, she said, has played a critical role in increasing access to family planning services and addressing pressing healthcare challenges in the region.

“The donation of the vehicle is a significant step in supporting MoPHA’s on-the-ground efforts to reach underserved populations in rural and remote areas with vital family planning and reproductive health services through the integrated outreach program with the MoPHA.

“The vehicle will be used to enhance mobility for healthcare workers, ensuring that services are brought closer to the people who need them the most.”

Ms. Famudi expressed her commitment to the ongoing partnership, stating: “Through our health sector strengthening program, implemented in partnership with the Morobe Provincial Health Authority (MoPHA), we are committed to supporting public health efforts and improving family planning access and services in MoPHA facilities.”

Thereafter, Dr. Binga, in accepting the vehicle on behalf of the Morobe Provincial Health Authority (MoPHA), expressed his gratitude to Marie Stopes PNG for their continued support.

He highlighted the significance of maintaining the demand for family planning and other vital health services in the province.

“It is essential to sustain the demand generated by Marie Stopes PNG’s efforts, ensuring ongoing access to family planning services and improving health outcomes for the people of Morobe,” Dr. Binga stated.

The partners also emphasized the importance of accurate and timely data reporting, particularly in relation to MSPNG’s services in Morobe Province and visibility in the national health information system.

Moving forward, MSPNG will continue to work with MoPHA to improve health systems, focusing on capacity building and strengthening data reporting, ensuring that accurate and timely information is collected from the field.

This will help both organizations better assess the impact of their work and refine strategies to meet the evolving needs of the people of Morobe Province.

Therefore, “Marie Stopes PNG remains committed to supporting provincial health authorities across the country to deliver critical sexual and reproductive health and family planning services, helping to create healthier families and communities for a sustainable and healthy future.”
