LIVE HAND GRENDADE CONFISCATED AT GEREHU SUBURB

A live hand grenade has been confiscated at a Gerehu Stage 5 home in Port Moresby.

A long-time resident of the suburb said a student (name witheld), attending the University of Papua New Guinea, was alleged to have been in custody of this military issued grenade.

He said when the student, who also lives there, was under the influence of alcohol, he was threatening neighbours with the bomb.

He told PNG SUN that the incident with the grenade was reported to the police who swiftly moved in to search the house.

The bomb was confiscated by the police for disposal, he said.

The culprit escaped from being caught, he said.

“His mother assisted police in the search and located the bomb in his closet,” he told us, adding police to dispose it off as assured.
