PNG OPPOSITION CAMP LINE-UP

The Parliamentary Opposition yesterday filed the motion of No-confidence against the Prime Minister, James Marape. East Sepik Governor, Allan Bird was named as their alternative Prime Minister.

The Private Business Committee chaired by Hela Governor Philip Undialu will vet the motion today and advise the Clerk whether it is in order for listing on the Notice Paper. If the motion is in order, the Speaker will adjourn Parliament for seven (days).

After one week’s adjournment, the motion will be deliberated and debated by Parliament. After that, the Speaker will call for two Prime Ministerial nominations; Allan Bird and James Marape.

Parliament will vote for them. Whoever collects the absolute-majority vote becomes the PM. The coalition Government boasts of 87 MPs including the Speaker while the Opposition has 19 MPs as follows:
